Our Volunteer Teams

Performance Cheer team

Our volunteer cheerleaders execute all-star and collegiate style stunting, tumbling, and dance routines while supporting our Sacramento community. You can catch us at parades and events performing and fundraising for local charities. Interested in having us perform at your next festival or event? Contact us and let’s talk!

Pom & Hip Hop teams

Our dynamic dance teams perform along side our cheer team at SCE Events. We add pizazz with pom poms and attitude and energy with our hip hop performances.

Learn More about Joining SCE

Practice and Time Commitment

Our athletes practice twice a week in the evenings at a Sacramento cheerleading gym. Open gyms are also offered to work on skills or try something new. SCE performs at various parades and events throughout our season, which starts in August and culminates in our pride showcase in Sacramento and San Francisco at the end of June. Athletes are also asked to participate in non-performing events to support our LGBT community partners.

Financial Commitment

SCE is a volunteer led-organization and committed to donating funds we raise back to our community. Volunteers are asked to cover a small monthly gym fee, as well as the cost of a uniform, practice apparel and choreography.

Age, background & experience expectations

You must be over 18 to join SCE, and that’s about it! We welcome diverse athletes of all ages (really), genders (really) and sexual orientations (really). No prior cheerleading experience is required. If you’re interested in joining and have never cheered before, we encourage attending open gyms to learn skills before tryouts. We are an inclusive and supportive organization, not to mention we know how to have a really good time while putting on a really good show.

Additional roles outside our performing teams

We are always looking for volunteers who want to get involved behind the scenes. We have our non-performing volunteers that help organize and run our events, and we also have positions within leadership on the Board of Directors for those who are interested in working with a non-profit organization.
